The best way to get maximum participation for your tipping pack product, be it NRL, AFL or Racing we are happy to provide you with our 20 years’ experience marketing this product and give you our guarantee if you follow our basic rules you will get maximum participation, put bums on seats and keep them coming back at least twice a week to check on their scores and their place on the score board.
Once you have received your pack, put your Posters (A3 & A2) up where everybody can see them, so they know you are running
a footy tipping competition. E.g. Beside the toilet door.
Put your Registration Board up in a prominent position so the punters can register their interest to play. Get a couple of your regulars to sign up and start the ball rolling.
Transfer the names to the Main Scoreboard and allocate each player a player card.
IMPORTANT These cards must remain in the hotel/club always (do not give them to the players to take home).
The players must select their winners on their player cards with a X before the first game kicks-off and return the card to the bar. Be sure to check the draw as some games are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, make a rule for your competition on when players must have their tips in by.
If a player does not come in to put his or her tips in they should get one point less than the lowest scorer for that round. Of course, here are some exceptions to this, particularly in the country where it is too far to drive. As long as this understanding is reached at the start of the competition. It is so important to get as many players as you can come in once or twice on a regular basis.
WIN: 2 points

TIPPING A DRAW: 5 points (both teams squares X)

PICK THE CARD: 10 points
NB: The above point scoring is much better than the standard 1 point for a win and 0 for a loss. If you use our system from the get-go watch and see how much more people talk about their scores.
Pick the Margin on the game marked with .
One game each week has been marked with a coloured for players to pick the margin.
E.G. Roosters 10 vs Cowboys 24 = winning margin is 14. Player must pick the winning team to get the margin.
There are 3 “double point” rounds listed on the cards, these rounds are colour coded.
LMS is not easy by any stretch of the imagination!
Competition runs from Round 1 - Round 25 (25 weeks)
Players can pick any team they like several times for the first 9 rounds, but the team must be a winner.
You could allow players one loss (optional) rounds 1 – 9 then it is sudden death rounds 10 – 25.
Once you get to the last 16 rounds, players can only pick a team to win once. E.G. They need to pick all 16 teams over the remaining 16 rounds and if their selection loses they are out. Draw – if a game ends in a draw then all players get a win and stay in the competition.
We have found a lot of pubs/clubs love the LMS competition as it creates a lot of conversation and atmosphere. You can make your own prizes up for LMS, beer, money, meal or drink vouchers etc.
Competition runs from Round 1 - Round 23 (23 weeks)
Players can pick any team they like several times for the first 5 rounds, but the team must be a winner.
You could allow players one loss (optional) rounds 1 – 5 then it is sudden death rounds 6 – 23.
Once you get to the last 18 rounds, players can only pick a team to win once. E.G. They need to pick all 18 teams over the remaining 18 rounds and if their selection loses they are out. Draw – if a game ends in a draw then all players get a win and stay in the competition.
If you set an amount per player E.g. $2 week or $50 for the season, make sure all money is paid no later than week 5. Any player
not paid up by week 5 should be deleted from the competition.
Alternatively, you may want to use our footy sweep system (see below or check out our website). By using the sweeps, you can let your players in FREE of CHARGE and you will get a handle on how much money you will have at the end of the season.
E.g. ASM Get the Margin Footy Sweeps: Sell 24 tickets @ $2 = $48.00. $20.00 for the winner, $28 to your prize pool per week. Total pool at the end of the season excluding finals will be (NRL) $700.00, AFL $644.00. Or two sweeps per week – 48 tickets only (NRL) $1400.00 (AFL) $1288.00.
Or you may choose to use the First Try Scorer Sweeps with 34 tickets to sell.
When settling the prize money, 1st, 2nd 3rd and always put on a last place prize, this keeps players who do not think they can
win to stay in and not drop out.
Prize money should stay the same even if a tie for that particular place i.e. 1st place $500 ties, payout should be $250.00 each. Do not include 2nd prize money into the first prize. Make sure these rules are there at the start of the competition for all to see.
We say stick with the basic rules and you cannot go wrong. We know you will get people who will argue if you change the point scoring around, they have been playing the same way for years and hate change. Particularly the Autumn/Spring Carnival product. Once again, the whole idea is to put bums on seats and if they are talking about it, even if they are whingeing about the change it still creates atmosphere, they will get over it.
Always keep the player cards in your establishment.
Use the suggested scoring system.
Use the Last Man Standing & Double Point Round features for extra entertainment.
